Canine Paratroopers
Marine Sgt. Frank Spano, a scout dog handler with the 3rd Military Police Battalion, a unit of Marine Force Logistic Command jumps over DaNang with Lobo, his 75-pound scout dog.
Lobo is used on patrols to give Leathernecks an early silent warning of the enemy's presence. He was trained at the Army's Scout Dog school in Fort Benning, Georgia. The 12-week course covered obedience, basic scouting techniques and advanced scouting and detection of mines and booby-traps.
Lobo landed first and raced towards Spano with his tail happily wagging.
